Kilmarnock 2-2 Livingston

Kilmarnock’s William Hill Scottish Premiership opener ended in a disappointing 2-2 draw against Livingston.

The Ayrshire side led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Djenairo Daniels and David Watson, but Robbie Muirhead and Scott Pittman secured a draw for the Lions.

Max Stryjek pulled off a good save in the 20th minute as Adam Montgomery’s shot deflected off George Stanger and directed on target, but the No 1 got down well to keep it out.

Ben Brannan tried his luck from distance three minutes later – but his shot was dragged wide and failed to trouble Jerome Prior.

Djenairo Daniels bagged the first goal of the league season after 37 minutes with a calm chipped effort – his celebrations were halted due to the linesman’s flag, but VAR intervened to show the goal was onside.

David Watson then made it a quickfire double for Killie just a minute or so later as he fired home a low effort into the goal to make it 2-0 heading into half-time.

Killie were reduced to 10 men after 66 minutes when George Stanger was sent off by referee Matthew MacDermid after a VAR check, Livingston were awarded a penalty for the incident and Robbie Muirhead converted the spot-kick to make it 2-1.

Muirhead had a good chance from another set-piece in the 74th minute, this time a free-kick – it looked to be heading goalwards but thankfully for Max Stryjek he watched it whistle past the post.

Stryjek then pulled off a couple of important saves in the 78th minute, the first from a Stevie May shot and the second from a scramble in the box after a corner.

Livingston then got their equaliser as Scott Pittman fired home to make it 2-2.
