Kilmarnock 1-0 Ayr United
Kilmarnock secured victory in a night to remember for Rory McKenzie’s testimonial.
The Rugby Park side won 1-0 thanks to a Greg Kiltie goal.
Brad Lyons went close in the 19th minute when he smashed a powerful shot from distance narrowly wide of the post.
Marcus Dackers looked sure to open the scoring for Killie in the 40th minute as he latched on to a low cross into the box, but his effort was well saved by David Mitchell.
Killie were awarded a penalty just before half-time after Brad Lyons was brought down in the box.
Up stepped the man of the moment Rory McKenzie – but his spot-kick was well saved by David Mitchell.
But McKenzie’s oldest mate in the team Greg Kiltie made up for it by lobbing a helpless Mitchell less than a minute after the break to make it 1-0.
McKenzie went close in the 58th minute as he fired a shot from 20 yards, but it was blocked well by the Ayr defence out for a corner.
Curtis Main took advantage of a slack pass in the Killie defence on the hour mark, he tried to catch our goalkeeper off guard but in doing so he dragged his 25 yard shot from distance.
Just after the hour mark McKenzie was subbed off and received a standing ovation which could be heard around the stadium.
Bruce Anderson had a chance in the 79th minute with a free header, but he could only fire it straight into Mitchell’s hands.
