Killie’s Mission Christmas 2022

Kilmarnock Football Club has teamed up with a squad of partners to donate more than 320 ‘festive friends’ care packages which will support the local community as part of this year’s Mission Christmas initiative.

Labelled as ‘the most wonderful time of year’, Christmas can also be one of the most challenging periods for many individuals in the region. For more than 200 families who are living in severe poverty in East Ayrshire, placing presents under the tree will come secondary to paying bills and providing meals for their youngsters this winter.

In association with East Ayrshire Council and the SPFL Trust, Kilmarnock’s Mission Christmas initiative will help to alleviate challenges of those suffering from food poverty, through donation of essential items to keep them stocked up during the festive period.

In the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, generous partners have stepped up to donate an all-time high number of items as part of this year’s appeal. From festive food to precious presents, an incredible intake of donations is now ready to be dished out to those who need it most in the local area.

Alongside the club’s community and hospitality teams, Scott Robinson, Chris Burke, Tony Docherty and Jim Chapman played important off-field roles at Killie’s Mission Christmas headquarters where they helped to package a total of 324 hampers which will be delivered to individuals and families in time for Christmas Day.

Jordan Allison, Charity Manager at Kilmarnock FC, commented: “This is the biggest ever number of Christmas hampers and gifts we’ve put together, and this sadly reflects the scale of the cost-of-living crisis in our local community.

“The fact we’ve been able to fill each hamper to the brim, giving hundreds of young people and families something to enjoy from Killie this Christmas time, is testament to the wonderful generosity of our community, our supporters, and the year-round hard work of The Killie Community team.”
