Killie Women selected for live TV

Kilmarnock Football Club’s Women team has been selected as part of the first ever SWPL2 match to be broadcasted live on TV.

BBC ALBA will be in position on Sunday, May 10 to cover our last home match of the campaign against Boroughmuir Thistle. The match will kick-off at 1.05pm.

Jim Chapman’s side are the current leaders of the division as we look to secure the title and promotion to the SWPL.

Last night, Killie maintained their four point gap over nearest challengers Spartans at Gartcairn, thanks to goals by Skye Stout and Cara Gray.

The next fixture comes away to Dundee United on Sunday, where the title could potentially be clinched if results go in our favour. However, the TV cameras will be in position at BBSP Stadium Rugby Park a week later as the girls aim to finish off a fantastic season in style on home turf.

Fiona McIntyre, SWPL Managing Director, said: “It has been yet another hugely compelling season in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League, and in what has become somewhat of a trademark of the SWPL, both leagues appear to once again be going right to the wire.

“We are delighted to announce that the finale of both leagues’ title races will be available to watch across both BBC ALBA and BBC Sport Scotland in the coming weeks. We are also thrilled that, for the first time ever, BBC ALBA will live broadcast a SPWPL 2 match, showcasing the run-in to what has been an incredible season in that division.

“We encourage all supporters to get along to a match or to tune in to support their team, as we approach what is sure to be another dramatic conclusion in the race for the SWPL titles.”
