As a first of its kind in the club’s catalogue, ‘Killie on Top!’ tells the stories from a fan’s perspective as Doug shares recollections of matches he has attended and grounds that he has visited, while describing the experiences that have held a place in his mind since his first trip to Rugby Park over 5 decades ago.

Detailing the ups and downs of following Killie, Doug illustrates his memories through the years, with anecdotes from the 1972/73 season right up until the present day.

‘Killie on Top!’ features tales that will resonate with football fans of all generations, who will be welcomed on a journey through chapters ranging from ‘Premier League part-timers’ and ‘Horror in the Highlands’ to ‘A Rare Bright Spot’ and ‘A treble of sorts’.

You can listen to Doug discuss the book in his own words below:

Foreword by Raymond Montgomerie:

Kilmarnock Football Club means a great deal to me. It’s been a massive part of mine and my family’s lives, so I always appreciate the chance to read and hear someone else’s perspective and experience with the club.

When I met Doug, and he first discussed the book with me I realised straight away that he had a real passion for Killie and was a very entertaining storyteller. He had a way of making his personal experiences relatable, and enjoyable to listen to.

‘Killie on Top!’ is a great perspective of life following football through the eyes of a passionate Killie fan. Well worth a read for not just Killie fans, but any football fans in general as there are many themes we can all relate to.

‘Killie on Top!’ is available to purchase in the Killie Superstore and via the club’s online shop for £12.99.
