Killie Community Hero: Glynis Findlay
This month, Kilmarnock FC proudly celebrates a truly remarkable individual whose dedication to the local community spans an incredible 45 years.
Our latest Killie Community Hero, Glynis Findlay, has been a constant force for good in Kilmarnock, going far beyond the role of teacher to become a lifeline for countless families in Onthank and beyond. Her work has touched lives both inside and outside the classroom, creating a lasting legacy built on kindness, inclusion and community spirit.
Throughout her career, Glynis consistently found innovative ways to bring people together. She helped build meaningful connections between schools and care homes, launched essential school clothing initiatives and ensured that no child went without during the pandemic or at Christmas time. Her focus has always been on lifting others quietly, consistently and with great compassion.
Her leadership also helped her school achieve significant milestones, including the SportScotland Gold Award and Rights Respecting School Gold status, a testament to her commitment to creating supportive and enriching environments for every pupil.
Now retired, Glynis leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire. Many of her former pupils have gone on to work in hospitals, emergency services and vital community roles. This is clear proof that the impact of her guidance extends far beyond the school gates.
