Hibernian (A) preview: Stuart Kettlewell

Kilmarnock make the trip to Easter Road this Sunday for a challenging William Hill Scottish Premiership clash against a Hibernian side riding high after a strong European showing.

Manager Stuart Kettlewell has confirmed that Robbie Deas returns from suspension, while George Stanger misses out after his red card against Livingston. The boss admitted there were mixed feelings about the decision but acknowledged it was time to move on.

“We need to park it and move on,” Kettlewell said. “George has been excellent throughout pre-season and we feel we’re missing one of our top performers this weekend.”

Despite the setback, the manager is pleased with the overall squad stability heading into the tie.

“We’re much and such the same as we were last week,” he added. “One in, one out.”

A Strong Opponent in Form

Hibs come into Sunday’s tie fresh from a 2-0 away win in Belgrade. It’s a result Kettlewell described as a real boost for the Edinburgh side and Scottish football as a whole.

“They’ll be delighted with that result,” he said. “It gives them that extra boost and confidence. I’d expect a fresh, hungry, enthusiastic Hibs side with plenty of quality.”

He also highlighted the depth in the Hibernian squad, pointing to recent signings and the ability to rotate with strength.

“When you look at the investment in that squad, even the bench is full of players capable of producing results. If they freshen things up, they’ll still be a very strong side.”

Looking to Strengthen

With the transfer window still open, the manager confirmed the club is working hard to add depth to the squad before the end of the month.

“We’re doing everything we can to give ourselves that bit of extra help. We know it’s a long, hard season ahead,” Kettlewell noted. “We’re always looking to improve.”
