Kilmarnock fought hard in the Scottish FA Youth Cup 25/26 Semi-Final but couldn’t get the ball past the line to secure Hampden once again on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2026.

From the opening stages, Kilmarnock showed their intention to play on the front foot. A series of early moments saw Killie threaten Hearts’ defensive structure, with Eaglesham, Craig and Burke involved repeatedly in attacking transitions. Goalkeeper, Dylan Brown, was called into action early, producing important saves – including one from a close-range Hearts effort – showing sharp reactions and keeping Killie firmly in the game. As the half went on, Killie continued to apply pressure. Watson and Craig both advanced dangerously, pushing Hearts deeper. However, despite Killie’s control in phases, Hearts took the lead from the penalty spot shortly before half-time.

The second half saw Kilmarnock raise the tempo. Immediately, Killie won free kicks in promising areas, with Burke and Coughlin driving the team on. Hearts doubled their lead early on in the second half, but Killie refused to fade. Killie won multiple corners, each time pushing bodies forward and forcing Hearts into defending. A free kick from Burke later in the half flew just over the crossbar – one of the several moments where Killie came close to changing the momentum. Dylan Brown again produced key stops, denying efforts that could have put the tie out of reach. Killie introduced fresh legs and they chased a late breakthrough. Despite their pressure and repeated efforts on goal, the final slipped through their fingers.

Kilmarnock exit the cup as proud holders – showing fight, quality and determination throughout the semi-final. Their attacking persistence was on full display, especially from captain Archie Traynor, who drove the midfield and Dylan brown, whose saves kept Killie in the game throughout. Eaglesham, Coughlin, Craig and Burke created multiple chances with Watson offering defensive solidity while supporting forward phases. Although the score did not tilt their way, their performance reflected strength and potential – one fully worthy of their status as reigning champions.
