First-Team Squad Update Following 2022/23 Season

Kilmarnock Football Club wish to share a first-team squad update following conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.

Derek McInnes held individual discussions with the squad this week prior to the post-season break, which has resulted in two players signing contract extensions.

Innes Cameron will remain at the club for the 2023/24 campaign after penning a new one-year deal. The 22-year-old academy graduate recently returned to action after an injury-hit season, making an instant impact by finding the net in our vital victory at Tannadice.

Player of the Year from our Championship-winning campaign, Fraser Murray, has signed a new deal until June 2025.

A number of Championship winners will leave the club this month, including title clinching goalscorer, Blair Alston, and winning captain, Chris Stokes.

Scott Robinson is thanked for his contribution to the club’s resurgence over the past two years, while Calum Waters, Lee Hodson and Dylan McGowan also depart with best wishes having played an important role in our return to the Premiership.

Alan Power’s second spell in Ayrshire comes to an end. A popular figure around Rugby Park, Alan made more than 180 appearances and enjoyed highlights including a third-place finish and back-to-back supporters’ Player of the Year Awards in his first stint, before returning as club captain this season.

Eight first-team players have now returned to their parent clubs following completion of loan spells.

The club would like to thank each of the departing squad members for the role they have played in achieving our two-year ambition, and wish them the best of luck for the future.

A THANKS FROM THE MANAGER

Derek McInnes: “It has been rewarding to work with such a dedicated group of players over the past 17 months. I’ve frequently spoken about the importance of ‘togetherness’, and every individual played their part on that front.

“Many of the squad continually put themselves forward for the end of season fight despite carrying knocks, which is a testament to both the individuals and culture we’ve created at the club.”

“While discussions are ongoing with a number of players, I would like to take the opportunity to thank departing members of the squad for their effort and commitment.”
