Fantastic night for Rory McKenzie’s testimonial dinner
The Caprington Suite at The Park Hotel was filled with celebration on Friday, October 24th as hundreds gathered to honour long-serving midfielder Rory McKenzie at his testimonial dinner.
The evening began with a warm introduction from Ali and Michael of Now Ayrshire Radio, who welcomed guests before inviting Rory to the stage for an opening interview reflecting on his career, proudest moments, and connection to the club.
A familiar face soon joined the conversation as Kris Boyd took the mic, sharing stories from their time together on and off the pitch which drew plenty of laughs and applause from the room.
Next up were Rory’s former youth coaches Alan Robertson and Paul Wright, both Kilmarnock legends in their own right. Their chat offered an inspiring look back at Rory’s development from a talented youngster into a Rugby Park favourite.
The tone became both touching and humorous when Rory’s brother Fraser stepped forward to share some funny family stories along with emotional reflections on Rory’s journey. This was followed by video messages from teammates from over the years: Manuel Pascali, Gary Dicker and Craig Samson, each offering their own heartfelt congratulations.
Guests then enjoyed a three course dinner before the second half of the evening kicked off with a lively round of Mr and Mr featuring Rory and his long time teammate Greg Kiltie, highlighting the bond between the pair who have played together for most of their careers.
The night continued with a final chat with Rory before an auction and raffle helped raise further support for the testimonial year and Killie Community. The celebration carried on late into the night as popular local band Waterfront provided entertainment and ensured the atmosphere remained upbeat until the very end.
Rory’s Testimonial Committee would like to thank everyone for their support during his testimonial year, in what has been a truly memorable one for Rory and his family.
