Enter our Captain Conker Book competition

We’re thrilled to continue the search for young creative minds in Ayrshire to help us with a brand new book competition.

Joining forces with NaeBother Books, we’re creating an adventure tale starring our mascot Captain Conker but we need help to craft a story fit for a football superhero.

Author Shirley Husband and illustrator Maurice Hynds joined our super squirrel on a number of trips around the county to ask Ayrshire schoolkids for help as they map out the book.

To help the team out, your story should include:

  • How Captain Conker stays fit to save the day
  • What does Captain Conker eat and drink to stay healthy and energetic?
  • How does Captain Conker stay positive when things are tough?

The winner of our competition will have their name and the name of their school printed inside the cover of the book.

They’ll receive full credit for their idea, plus they’ll receive a Killie shirt of their choice, signed by the team, and a special visit from Captain Conker, Shirley and Maurice.

Working in partnership with CO-OP, Foundation Scotland, the KCST and Vibrant Communities, the competition has been running in schools throughout North, South and East Ayrshire for the past month and we can’t wait to see what ideas we get from our young fans!

We aim to launch the finished book for Christmas 2021 and entries for the competition close on Thursday 30th September and if you have any questions, please contact shirley@naebother.com

So, young Ayrshire authors, get writing. Give it your best shot and have fun!
