Derek McInnes named Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month

Derek McInnes has been named as the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for October 2023, after leading his side to fourth position in the league table.

Killie took six out of nine points available in October, with victories over Aberdeen and Livingston, following a 3-1 defeat at Celtic Park earlier in the month.

The squad has now recorded four wins, four draws and four defeats in their 12 league matches played so far this season, and sit two points behind St Mirren in fourth spot in the table after the weekend results.

Commenting on the award, Derek McInnes said: “It was important for us to maintain our strong home form in October and I’m pleased that we can reflect on two solid wins against Livingston and Aberdeen.

“The award is shared by my players and staff, recognising their efforts at this early stage of the season. As I said at the weekend, I really enjoy working with such a motivated squad, but I still feel that there is a bit more to come from them.”

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s and owner the Loch Lomond Group, added: “Our judging panel had some tough decisions to make but felt the way in which Derek and his coaching staff had steered Kilmarnock up to fourth position in the table during the month merited his selection as the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for October.

“There is a lot going in the right direction on and off the field at Kilmarnock at the moment, and Derek has been central in driving the club forward in what is developing into an intriguing fight for the top six places in the division.

“My congratulations go to Derek and all involved at Rugby Park on being named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for October.”
