Club to compete in first-ever eScottish Cup!

Kilmarnock FC are pleased to announce that the club will be represented in the inaugural eScottish Cup, which takes place at Hampden Park on Sunday 21st May 2023.

Esports is one of the fastest growing markets in global sport, already firmly embedded in world football. This weekend, 23 clubs – ranging from cinch Premiership to Highland and Lowland league sides – will battle it out to be crowned champions of Scotland.

Competing across FIFA 23 ultimate team and kick-off modes, two highly-rated gamers will play on behalf of the club this Sunday.

18-year-old Louie Parker is a professional Esports player currently ranked 277th in the European rankings for FIFA23. He will partner Daniel Zanieri who was ranked 4th in Scotland’s EA rankings last year, in addition to earning a national top 5 spot in the FIFA Global Series standings this season.

Andrew Fitzsimmons, Kilmarnock FC’s Media & Marketing Coordinator, said: “As one of the few trailblazing clubs to have competed in the inaugural Scottish Cup, we were desperate to continue that trend by participating in the nation’s first official gaming competition of this type.

“While evolving the club’s communications strategy, we’re always looking for avenues to engage new audiences and eSports is an area that we believe will hold great value in years to come.

“We’ll be following the progress of Louie and Daniel closely on Sunday and would like to wish them the best of luck at Hampden.”
