Angelo says sorry to fans after Euro loss
Angelo Alessio has apologised to Kilmarnock fans after our European exit following a 2-0 defeat to Connah’s Quay Nomads.
The manager took responsibility for tonight’s devastating result, which saw the Welsh side book their spot in the next round courtesy of a Ryan Wignall goal and a Callum Morris penalty.
Angelo spoke of his huge disappointment with the result, and admitted his team weren’t good enough.
Speaking to Killie TV, he said: I am sorry. I am sorry for this result. I thought it was a bad result for us after winning the first game. I think it’s important for us to learn from this game, and to continue to work hard every day.
“At the same time I think this team has the quality, the strength and the right motivation to come back in this way.
“Connah’s Quay are a solid team and deserved the win. They were really physical and bested us.
“I’m very disappointed with the result, we had our chances but conceded the goal and the penalty.
The manager has vowed that his team will work hard to make a positive start to the league campaign, which starts against Rangers on August 4.
“We must do more and reflect upon this match in our next training session. We will come to understand each other.”
