2023/24 Girls’ Academy Graduates revealed

Kilmarnock Women FC are proud to announce that three girls’ academy members have graduated to the first-team squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Louise Cowan, Lucie Burns and Arwen O’Brien will all join the first-team setup in time for Sunday’s league opener against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

Louise Cowan

Louise Cowan will look to build on an impressive season, having broken into the first-team towards the end of last term. A talented creative midfielder, the 17-year-old will catch the eye through her darting runs from midfield and impressive range of passing.

Lucie Burns

16-year-old Lucie Burns burst onto the scene with a handful of first-team appearances last season. A rapid wide player, Lucie has established a reputation as a direct winger with an aggressive running style. A strong desire to progress will see Lucie become ‘one to watch’ this season.

Arwen O’Brien

The youngest of this Summer’s graduates is 15-year-old midfielder Arwen O’Brien. Despite being at a very early stage of development, Arwen demonstrates great maturity in the middle of the park. Her defensive attributes, physical nature and technical passing ability provides the platform to become the complete midfielder.

The teenagers follow in the footsteps of Mary Jackson and Kelsy Crainie who were selected to make the permanent step up to senior football last season. Growing success of the newly-formed girls’ academy builds on investment from the Killie Trust, following a first-team and academy title partnership deal which was agreed earlier this year.

You could be next to join the graduates! The new girls’ academy is recruiting for players across all age groups, with a clear pathway to the first-team in place. To join the Kilmarnock Women FC revolution, contact Jim Chapman on: jimchapman@kilmarnockfc.co.uk
