Jonathan Meier added to our ranks

Kilmarnock Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Jonathan Meier, subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old German joins Killie on a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at SSV Ulm.

The 5’ 11’’ defender is comfortable playing at either left or right-back, although is predominantly left footed.

Hailing from Munich, he came through the youth ranks at Bayern – playing for their second side on 20 occasions after spending time in their Under-17s and 19s.

Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 bought Meier for €1.2m in 2019. He played for their second side, but didn’t make a first-team breakthrough, so gained vital experience in the second and third tiers of German football with around 120 appearances at Dynamo Dresden – who he permanently joined in 2022 – and Hansa Rostock.

Meier was snapped up by Ulm two years ago, making 46 appearances in total – 35 of which came last season.

Meier will wear the number 19 shirt during his time at BBSP Stadium Rugby Park.
