Aaron Tshibola heading to the World Cup

Kilmarnock Football Club is proud to confirm that Aaron Tshibola has been called into DR Congo’s 2026 World Cup squad.

The midfielder, who re-joined the club for a fourth time at the end of the winter transfer window, received a late call into his nation’s 26-man pool of players after an injury sustained by Rocky Bushiri.

He will be part of their squad who are in Group K of the major finals, and will face Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan.

Tish – dubbed the midfield controller by Killie supporters – has been outstanding in the middle of the park over the past few months, putting in several man of the match performances as the team got over the line in its bid for Scottish Premiership safety.

His form since returning has helped play a major part in Neil McCann’s side maintaining their top-flight status, and in turn, evidently impressed national team manager Sébastien Desabre.

McCann said: “Everyone here is delighted for Tish to go to the World Cup. Huge congratulations must go to him for his consistency of performance, through professionalism, commitment, endeavour and footballing ability.

“I look forward to watching his progress this summer, and we all hope he enjoys and embraces the opportunity he’s earned and grasped with both hands.”

The club wishes Aaron well at the tournament this summer and take immense pride in seeing him fulfil a childhood dream. Go smash it, Tish!
