Kilmarnock 2 Celtic 4
Killie started off strong with an early shot which deflected off of Celtics defence. Celtic responded quickly with an impressive attacking play. Killie were back on the attack after a Celtic corner with Noah Simpson whipping the ball into the box which got headed away by the Celtic defence once again. Killie won a free kick in the opposing half. The free kick was taken by Archie Traynor, swung into the box which landed on Cole Coughlin’s head, he headed the ball down which landed at Remo Margiotta’s feet to kick it into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0 Killie. Celtic responded rapidly and scored a goal from a corner.
Killie won a corner which got headed away. Noah Simpson won the ball and slotted it through to Cole Coughlin but his shot was deflected and the Celtic goalkeeper safely caught the ball. Jamie Morrison was called into action shortly after to defend his box. Remo Margiotta won possession in the oppositions box and calmly passed the ball to Cole Coughlin who hit the back of the net with a power shot to make it 2-1.
Killie then won a free kick shortly after scoring. The ball was whipped in by Ben Brannan which made a connection with Kalil Traljic but it was headed just slightly over the crossbar. Celtic responded fast, narrowly missing chances, keeping Killie in the lead. Logan Foster got his goal ruled offside after an excellent attacking spell from Killie. After an exciting first half Killie were ahead at half time.
Shortly into the second half, Aaron Davis crossed the ball into the box but it deflected off of a Celtic player to win Killie a corner but nothing came of it and it got headed away. There was a near miss from Noah Simpson who swung the ball into the box but it just went wide. This gave Killie the momentum to apply more pressure and take more shots but none of them could find the back of the net. Archie Traynor also had a near miss from inside the box but that went wide.
Killie brought on fresh legs to brighten up the game, bringing on Connor Sweeney and Noah Cumming for Guy Feeney and Remo Margiotta. After a good attacking play from Noah Simpson he crossed the ball to Ben Brannan whose shot was deflected over the crossbar. Killie saw more subs come on to quicken the pace, Aaron Peacock and Jack Lusk came on for Noah Simpson and Kalil Traljic. Just after Killie made their subs, Celtic’s number 7 found the bottom left corner from inside the box to make it 2-2. Cole Bickerton came on for Harry Mcmurray also. Celtic took the lead after their number 9 put the ball in the bottom right corner to make it 2-3. Celtic’s attacking play helped in their favour as their number 10 also found the bottom right corner to make it 2-4.
The match concluded with Killie just missing out on securing the win.
