Rangers (H) U19s | Match report
Kilmarnock 0-2 Rangers | Under-19s
Kilmarnock Under-19s were to a successive defeat on home soil as Rangers ran out 2-0 winners at BBSP Stadium Rugby Park on Saturday.
Kris Doolan’s side came up short in the CAS Elite League encounter, with Conor Owen and Kyle Glasgow on the scoresheet for the league leaders in either half.
Killie – who were again without captain Archie Traynor and Cole Burke because of international duty – grew into the game after a slow start which saw goalkeeper Jamie Morrison forced into some early stops.
Noah Simpson looked dangerous once again, with the winger looking to build on his impressive showing in the League Cup loss to Hearts. His delivery fashioned a chance for Aaron Davis, but he failed to his the target. Remo Margiotta was next to try his luck, but was denied when Owen produced a last-gasp block.
The striker thwarted once more before the first-half was out, as Rangers keeper Sam Reid pulled out an outstanding close-range save to prevent Killie from taking the lead, before Malky Thomson’s side eventually did.
On the comeback trail, Connor Sweeney was unlucky as he failed to capitalise on some slack play at the back by Rangers. The attacker couldn’t quite get the connection right on his shot.
Cole Coughlin and Cole Bickerton were also denied by Reid as the half wore on, as it wasn’t to be for the U19s on the day.
Team: Morrison, Peacock (Craig, 58′), Spence, Barlow, Feeney (Bickerton, 68′), Foster, Simpson (Cumming, 68′), Davis, Margiotta (Watson, 68)’, Coughlin, Sweeney (Eaglesham, 58′).
