Match Preview: St Mirren (A)

William Hill Scottish Premiership – Matchday 19

Saturday 27th – December – 3:00pm | The SMISA Stadium, Paisley

Last Time Out: Killie

Killie showed encouragement and effort in a narrow 1–0 defeat to Falkirk at Rugby Park, despite their winless run extending to 11 matches. In Kris Doolan’s first game in interim charge, Killie competed well and had the better moments in a tight first half, creating several promising openings without reward. A lack of fortune proved costly when Falkirk struck early in the second half, leaving Killie chasing the game, but the hosts continued to push until the end, with a late Marcus Dackers header coming closest to an equaliser in a performance that showed spirit and signs to build on despite the result.

Last Time Out: St Mirren

St Mirren followed up their Premier Sports Cup success with a deserved 1–0 league win over Livingston in Paisley, making it two league victories in a row after dominating much of the match. Jonah Ayunga was a constant threat in the first half but couldn’t convert his chances, while a goal early in the second half was ruled out after VAR judged a foul in the build-up. The Buddies stayed on the front foot and finally made the breakthrough when substitute Mikael Mandron turned home Declan John’s cutback 20 minutes from time. Despite late pressure and further chances, Saints saw the game out to secure a hard-earned and festive three points.
