Match report: Dundee 3-2 Kilmarnock
Dundee dished out the ultimate payback from last month’s dramatic Kilmarnock win at Dens Park – by sealing a dramatic comeback win of their own.
Bruce Anderson and Matty Kennedy had Killie 2-0 up after 40 minutes – but goals from Seb Palmer-Houlden and Jordan McGhee levelled the scores before Ziyad Larkeche grabbed a stoppage-time winner.
Derek McInnes made two changes to Wednesday’s winning XI at Tynecastle, with Stuart Findlay and Bruce Anderson coming in for Joe Wright and Marley Watkins.
It was a slow start to the first half with no real chances until Bruce Anderson was handed a gift from Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken who spilled it into the striker’s path, and Anderson made no mistake as he tapped into the empty net.
Killie were dealt a blow when the returning Findlay was stretchered off after landing harshly on a his leg after jumping to clear the ball via a header, he was replaced by Wright.
Dundee’s first real chance came in the 35th when Simon Murray laid a low ball on to the path of Oluwaseun Adewumi who almost scored, but smashed the side netting.
Matty Kennedy doubled Killie’s lead in the 40th minute with a fine header after a Danny Armstrong cross.
Dundee fired back instantly as Seb Palmer-Houlden pulled one back for the hosts before half-time.
Dundee equalized after 56 minutes as Jordan McGhee fired a powerful header into the net.
Matty Kennedy tried his luck with a free-kick from 25 yards on the hour mark, it found its way on target but McCracken held on to the effort.
Scott Tiffoney went incredibly close to giving Dundee the lead in the 80th minute, fans were up celebrating as his shot trickled past Robby McCrorie, but thankfully for the Killie goalkeeper it also went inches past the post.
Dens Park then erupted when Ziayd Larkeche slid home a dramatic late winner four minutes into stoppage-time.
