Squad update: Pre-Ross County
We’d like to offer the following update to supporters regarding our squad availability as we head into our final home pre-split match.
Derek McInnes confirmed at the weekend that our captain Kyle Vassell may require surgery for a groin injury before the end of the season.
Kevin Van Veen is still managing a back injury, and Greg Stewart is likely to require an operation for a groin injury too at some point.
McInnes said: “I did mention that Kyle Vassell needs an operation, that won’t happen until things are a bit more secure for us.
“Kyle was outstanding at Tynecastle on Saturday, we are managing his week like we are doing for two or three players.
“Looking ahead to next season if we want to get him back for pre-season hitting the ground running then we’ll have to make a decision at some point before the end of the season.
“Kevin Van Veen still isn’t rid of his back issue, Greg Stewart still has his groin issue which we’ll need to have operated on.
“It’s a hernia thing that he’s got which is affecting his week.
Liam Donnelly and Joe Wright, who were subbed off with calf injuries at Tynecastle, are likely to be available this weekend, as is Fraser Murray who was unavailable due to a hamstring issue.
Brad Lyons is back in training and is working towards a return to the squad.
