Calum Rae joins Danny Armstrong at Rugby Park

Kilmarnock FC was delighted to welcome Calum Rae to Rugby Park for our last home game against Dundee.

The youngster is currently undergoing treatment for cancer at University Hospital Crosshouse and he met the Killie squad during our festive visit to the Children’s Ward.

Winger Danny Armstrong took a real shine to Calum during the visit and took it upon himself to visit him on Christmas Eve to give him some presents.

Danny then invited Calum to Rugby Park as his VIP guest and offered him the chance to walk out on to the pitch.

Armstrong said: “It was a very special moment getting to walk out with Calum, he is a special boy and I’m lucky to be able to call him my friend.”

Calum’s parents Andrew and Victoria added: “Calum had the most amazing day walking out on to the pitch with his friend and buddy Danny Armstrong.

“He was quite nervous in the tunnel then he saw Danny, had their secret handshake then had the best time walking out.

“Danny, you’ve been amazing and we feel so lucky that Calum has you now to look out for him, play hide and seek with and wind up pesky girls so Calum says!

“We can’t thank Kilmarnock FC enough for looking after us, welcoming us so well and giving us a day of beautiful memories with Calum that we will treasure always.

“The club took care of everything and showed us such kindness and generosity to us and we are so grateful to them. Thank you for letting us create memories at your wonderful football club.”
