Care Experienced Week 2022

In “Scotland’s first ever care experienced family football celebration”, Kilmarnock FC provided free matchday tickets for 120 care experienced young people and adults, who attended the home victory v Ross County.

Jamie Turnbull from East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (EAHSP) writes:

“National Care Experienced Week is dedicated to celebrating the contributions and achievements of care experienced people in society.

“All care experienced people have the right to have their voices heard, so that we can improve the current level of support for them and quality of life they experience beyond the care system. We also want to change for the better society’s perception of people who have care experience.”

“East Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership have teamed up with Kilmarnock  FC’s Community Trust to develop an essential community partnership which highlights Rugby Park as the biggest community Hub in the area.

“Many Kilmarnock Football Clubs supporters will be care experienced and on the 22nd of October we kicked off our National Care Experienced Week 2022 celebrations together as one big Killie Family. We speak about that it really does take a community to raise a child and help them achieve their goals and dreams, and I believe that this event demonstrated this, with 5000 passionate Killie fans sharing their experience together.

“Many of the young people and adults who attended experienced their first Kilmarnock FC game and together created lifelong memories.”
