Stephen O'Donnell helped Scotland get their UEFA Nations League campaign off to the perfect start with a 2-0 win over Albania.

The defender became the first Kilmarnock player to start a competitive Scotland international since Ian Durrant against Estonia in 1999.

Former Killie star Steven Naismith was involved in both goals, as he saw his header deflect off Berat Djimsiti for the opening goal before getting his name on the scoresheet with a header from a corner.

Playing as a right wing back, O'Donnell was a constant attacking threat down the flank.

Having appeared in friendly matches against Peru, Mexico and Belgium, Alex McLeish handed the Killie ace his first Hampden start as a Scotland player.

And he performed well to help the national team secure a perfect start to Group C1 ahead of next month's trip to face Israel.
