Kilmarnock duo Greg Taylor and Dominic Thomas started for Scotland U21s in their European Championship qualifier against England.
Scot Gemmill's team went down 3-1 to their opponents in Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.
Taylor forced an early corner as Scotland looked to build on their opening 2-0 win over the Netherlands but goals from Josh Onomah and Tammy Abraham put England ahead.
In between Dom Thomas tested England's Angus Gunn with a shot which the goalkeeper held well. The winger was eventually replaced by Dunfermline's Ryan Williamson in the 67th minute.
Motherwell's Chris Cadden pulled a goal back for the Scots only for England to restore their two-goal advantage as Liverpool's Dominic Solanke found the net.
Both Killie players will now travel with the squad for Tuesday's qualifier against Latvia.
